How to apply for data access?

All scholars affiliated with institutions with research expertise can apply for permission to analyze data from The Hordaland Heath Studies.

Access to data file can be provided upon application and agreement. Such an agreement gives rights to conduct research on a particular issue in a limited period, and to publish scientific articles.  Each project must be covered by existing approvals / licensing, or if necessary with a new approval from the Regional Committee for Medical and Health Research Ethics (REK) and The Data Inspectorate.

How to apply:

Please attach a project description with the publication schedule, the list of variables to reflect the hypotheses and research questionsl. Name of project manager and project team members must be stated in the project description. Relevant partners must be requested and the scope and timetable for the project must be outlined. Approval of REK or any concession from the Data Inspectorate can be forwarded.

Note that data will not be disclosed before the application is completed.

  • The application will be analyzed by a committee responsible for the data and publication sample (DPU), which meets about once a month. Applications must be received by the department at least one week before the meeting of the DPU.
  • Data will be distributed when all required documents are submitted to the Hordaland Health Studies and signed agreement exists
